On November 4th, 1988, around 3 am in the morning Geraldine “Gerri” Chew and her boyfriend Darryl Wayne Leister were attacked in his truck by an unknown man. Gerri was murdered just one day before her 47th birthday.
Gerri and Darryl were sitting in his truck outside his home at 735 N. Lewis Ave. in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 3 am when an unknown man came out of the darkness and began stabbing Darryl with a 6-inch knife. The man then ran around to Gerri’s side, smashed in her window, and stabbed her twice, one of them straight to the heart. Daryl put the truck in drive with the man still holding on to the truck and then slammed on his brakes, making the man fall. Daryl then rushed Gerri to the hospital. She was declared deceased at 3:37 am. Daryl was stabbed 4 times but survived his injuries. The suspect was described as a white man with shoulder-length curly blond hair wearing a brown jacket. He was 5’7-5’10 and 130-150 lbs.
Gerri was born November 5th, 1941 as Geraldine Brasher in California. Her family moved to Oklahoma when she was a child and she went on to attend Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. Geraldine was a former legal secretary who was working as a part-time housekeeper. She had two grown children at the time but her son sadly passed away at age 33 in 1999.
