21-year-old Charles Joseph Slaughter III was reported missing on March 13th, 1978 by his mother in Edmond, Oklahoma. His body was discovered on an isolated road on April 22nd, 1978 outside of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Charles, pictured here at 16, was found by a rancher looking for his stray cattle on Post Rd about 100 yards north of Covell Rd. It was determined he’d died from shotgun wounds. Casings were found at the scene but haven’t been linked to any one firearm. His remains were badly decomposed and he was identified by fingerprints. At the time of the murder Charles lived with mother at 1402 NE 17th St. He’d recently been arrested for a burglary charge in February 1978 and he was out on bond when he was murdered.

Charles was born May 13th, 1956 in Darby Township, Pennsylvania. He attended Douglass High School as a teen. Charles’ mother passed away in 1993 never knowing justice for her son’s murder.
