On July 25th, 1977, a resident of Atoka, Oklahoma heard a knock at their door at 3 am. When they opened the door no one was there but there was a wrecked truck in the road. The resident called police. When they arrived they found a wrecked truck on it’s side. There was a body inside, that of Sam David Gose, 31. Initially the police thought they were dealing with a wreck but they found that Sam had been shot eight times, four in the chest and four in the back, and stabbed twice.

It’s believed that Sam was shot elsewhere and the truck was driven by him to get help or someone else drove it and staged the scene. The truck was going 20 mph when it hit a ditch and flipped onto it’s side. The truck was still drivable. It also had 5 bullet holes in it. The gun used is believed to be a rifle but no shell casings were discovered at the scene.

Sam was a father and a husband. He lived, with his wife Norma Ann, in a mobile home near the community of Crystal, Oklahoma. He was born February 25th, 1946 in Grant, Oklahoma.
