Lawrence Scott Colton has been missing from the Midwest City, Oklahoma area since September 1st, 1979. He was 28-years-old.
Lawrence, a Vietnam Veteran, had no permanent address at the time and had been living in Jacksonville, Florida before making his way to Midwest City to see some relatives. The last permanent address I did find for Larry, as he preferred to be called, was at 355 Monument in Jacksonville, Florida. He left Jacksonville at the end of August 1979. Larry was last seen at his father’s home when he visited briefly, sharing that he felt ill and asked if he could stay. He was told no and he left. It is possible he could have tried to hitchhike back to Jacksonville. Larry was often at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Gainesville, Florida and he often spent time on Atlantic Boulevard and Girvin Road. He did struggle with drug dependence and he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Larry, who was also sometimes called Zoonie, was born in Rockville Centre, New York on September 16th, 1950. He was 5’10-6’0 and 125-140lbs when he disappeared. Larry had brown hair and hazel eyes. He often wore dark clothing with a rope belt and flip-flops.
