Kathleen and Royce Henson were last seen in Tulsa on March 23, 1979. Kathleen was thirty years old and Royce was only eighteen months old. They have not been seen since.

At the time Kathleen and Royce disappeared, Kathleen worked at Roger’s Records in Tulsa as a manager and was often given tickets to some pretty great concerts in the area. On the night of the disappearance, Kathleen was driving a vehicle borrowed from her father to deliver tickets to a friend of hers. On her way to meet the friend, apparently Kathleen dropped off her older son to see his father at about 10:30 pm. Kathleen’s parents realized something was wrong when they were notified by Kathleen’s best friend that her son had apparently been alone all night. His father had dropped him off later in the evening, and the child didn’t have a key to the house, so he climbed inside a window and went to sleep. He called his mom’s friend in Tahlequah scared and then the friend notified Kathleen’s parents that she was gone.

The friend Kathleen was supposed to deliver the tickets to reported that Kathleen never arrived at her house. The next day the friend was driving and passed a 1969 Chrysler abandoned on Ute Street in Tulsa. Kathleen’s father verified it was his vehicle. It was found locked and parked crookedly with Kathleen’s coin purse and identification inside.

According to an article, at the time Kathleen and Royce disappeared, she had confided in friends that she had been afraid of a known acquaintance who had been involved in criminal activities, the police know who this man is, but he has not been named, nor has he been charged with anything relating to the disappearances. The police checked the vehicle and Kathleen’s home and found no evidence of a struggle or foul play. The case would sit virtually untouched until 1984, when Kathleen’s mother contacted them to find out the status of their case. Nothing seems to have come of the re-opening of the investigation. In 2008, Kathleen’s father and her older son stated they believe that the father of Royce likely killed Kathleen and Royce, and that he had previously been abusive to Kathleen.

To date, Kathleen and Royce have not been found, and no one has been charged in their disappearance.
