Janet Renee Barnes, 21, was last seen on November 20th, 1987 when she left work around 3 am near 1500 S. Portland Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Her body was discovered on Sunday, November 22nd, 1987 in her apartment at 534 N. Rockwell Avenue. She was found at 1030 am by her apartment manager after her parents called asking for a check in because she’d fail to appear for an appointment. Her apartment was locked but there was a struggle at the scene. Cause of death was strangulation. Investigators believed she’d been beaten to death initially.
