Nearly forty years ago on July 25, 1985, 18-year old Rozlin Abell and her 15-year-old sister, Fawn, were leaving the house when their brother overheard them conversing. One of the sisters urged the other to hurry, mentioning that someone was waiting for them down the street. Unfortunately, they never returned home and have been missing ever since.

Despite ongoing efforts, the case of the missing sisters remains unsolved and there have been very few leads. Records from the Social Security Administration indicate no activity on Rozlin or Fawn’s Social Security numbers since July 1985.

While there was no concrete evidence of foul play at the time, some family members believe that the girls, known for hitchhiking frequently, may have fallen victim to a crime. The family informed the police that the girls hadn’t disclosed their destination or the type of job they were seeking that fateful day 38 years ago. In 2010, an unidentified family member contacted the police to inquire about the possibility of finding the girls’ remains at the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge at Lake Overholser. However, no such remains were ever found.

When the girls went missing, the family had not lived long in their current residence on the 7000 block of NW 59 Terrace. Initially, Fawn was considered a runaway, while Rozlin, being of legal age, was listed as missing after her parents reported no contact from her.

Rozlin Abell stood at 4-foot-11, weighing around 90 pounds, while her sister Fawn was approximately 5-foot-1 inch tall and weighed about 100 pounds. Both had brownish-blond hair. Below are what they looked like when they disappeared and an aged progressed photo of what they would look like now.

The search for answers and closure continues, but as of now, the fate of Rozlin and Fawn Marlene Abell remains shrouded in mystery. If you have any information regarding the disappearances of Fawn and Rozlin Abell, you are encouraged to contact the Bethany Police Department at 405-789-2323.
