On the morning of March 2, 1982, Donna Lee Newberry left her home in Duncan, Oklahoma around 11 a.m. to buy a newspaper. When she didn’t return for several hours, her family grew concerned, and a search began.

The next day, on March 3, Donna’s body was discovered in the trunk of a car parked in a grocery store lot in Marlow, a small town about 15 minutes from Duncan. The car had also been spotted on the side of U.S. Highway 81 late on March 2. Donna was fully clothed, and her cause of death was determined to be strangulation.
