Andrew Lee Averyhart Jr., was 21 when he was murdered execution-style near train tracks on February 14, 1979 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He had previously been charged with the first-degree murder of Bobby Hopkins, allegedly in retaliation after his cousin, Michael Anderson, was shot by a sniper in a southside park. The Averyhart and Hopkins families were reportedly involved in an ongoing feud, and Andrew had allegedly confessed to the killing.

Andrew served briefly in the U.S. Army (May 5 – August 26, 1976) and attended West High School in Muskogee. His parents were Andrew Averyhart and Rosa May Twine.

In 1981, Larry Eugene McDaniel and Michael Arthur Anderson were arraigned for Andrew’s murder, but there are no reports that either of the two men were convicted .
