Tanya Zachary, 27, was babysitting for a neighbor when she was found shot to death in an apartment in the Sanders Heights Complex. A friend who had come to visit Zachary found the door ajar.

Police say Zachary also lived in that complex, but was in the neighbor’s unit when she was killed. Once police arrived they found a young girl she was watching in a bedroom while Zachary laid on the living room floor dead and covered in blood.

Initially Tanya’s death was called in as a possible suicide and later ruled a homicide. Police say Tanya was shot once and that a gun was recovered from the apartment. It has been sent off to the OSBI to determine if it was the gun used in her death.

Police are asking if you have any information in Tanya’s death or in any other recent homicide to call Crimestoppers at 355-INFO.
