Syllannia Terene Edwards was born November 26th, 1987 in Harris County, Texas. At the age of five Syllannia’s mother went to prison for murder and she became a ward of the state. It’s believed that her father and brother were also in and out of prison.

By August of 2003, Syllannia was living at the Parker Pointe girls home in Lawton, Oklahoma. This group home is for victims of abuse and neglect and it’s also one that we’ve found many girls have run away from. It’s rumored she ran away with a cousin named Shannon Edwards but there is little proof of this or of Shannon. At this point it’s hard to tell exactly where Syllannia went. There are rumors she went to Texas to connect with her mother and the reunion didn’t go well.

In May 2004, Syllannia was seen with other sex workers on East Colfax Avenue in Aurora, Colorado. She was with three women – Lucretia, Ty, and Diamond. She may have been staying at the Ranger Motel at the time. Syllannia went by “Mimi” and “Chocolate” on the street. In July 2004, in Aurora, she was arrested for prostitution and then released to the street. She was only 16.

By November 2009 Syllannia had been identified as one of the victims found buried in West Mesa in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is one of eleven victims found in the mesa adjacent to 118th Street SW. Dental records were used to identify her remains. It’s believed she was killed sometime in 2004-2005.

In 2010 a warrant was served in Joplin, Missouri on a man named Ron Erwin to search his home and business. It’s unknown if anything came from that search.

Please call the 118th St. Task Force at 1.877.765.8273 with any information on Syllannia Edwards. Every little bit helps.
