The Jamison family went missing on October 8, 2009. Bobby, his wife Sherilynn, and their young daughter Madyson had traveled to a remote area near the Sans Bois Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma near Eufaula, to inspect a potential property purchase. Their abandoned truck was found with their personal belongings still inside, including their IDs, wallets, a large amount of cash, and their severely malnourished dog. However, there was no sign of the Jamison family.
The investigation into their disappearance revealed some puzzling details. Before their trip, the family had exhibited unusual behavior, expressing concerns about spiritual warfare and claiming their house was haunted. They also experienced financial difficulties and conflicts with family members. Furthermore, a photograph was discovered of Madyson wearing a red hooded jacket, which she did not have with her at the time of their disappearance. Search efforts involving law enforcement and volunteers were conducted, but no trace of the Jamison family was found. Various theories have emerged over the years, including suggestions of foul play, involvement with drugs, or a potential accident in the wilderness. However, no definitive answers have been found, leaving the case shrouded in mystery.
In November 2013, two hunters stumbled upon skeletal remains in a remote area of Latimer County. They, were later identified as two adults and a child. The location of the remains was less than 3 miles away from where the Jamison family’s abandoned pickup truck had been found. Although it was widely believed that the remains belonged to the missing family, it took extensive anthropological and forensic pathological testing by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm their identities. Finally, on July 3, 2014, officials officially announced that the remains indeed belonged to the Jamison family. Unfortunately, due to the significantly decomposed state of the bodies, a definitive cause of death could not be determined.
The Jamison Family Disappearance remains an unsolved case, and any information or leads that could shed light on their fate are encouraged to be reported to the appropriate authorities. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Latimer Police Department at (918) 465-2161.
