Thirty-three year old Shelby Hughes and her thirty-four year old boyfriend Bryan VanAssche were found murdered in their Midwest City area home on June 21, 2014. It appeared that Shelby died of blunt force trauma to the head, while Bryan’s neck had been slashed, before their home was set on fire.

It is believed that their bodies had been in the home a few days before the fire. After the fire was extinguished, it was declared a crime scene.

Authorities believe drugs could play a role in their deaths. Allegedly Shelby and Bryan met at a heroin hookup site in 2000, according to detectives. They believe the two had been selling heroin sometime before their deaths.
