Kenneth, 43 at the time, was an 18 year veteran of ONG, a gas utility company. On that day he was called out to an abandoned house at 6110 S. 28th W. Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma to check for a possible gas leak. Burglars had stolen the stove from the house with the gas was still on. The house was filled with gas. The home exploded soon after Kenneth arrived. He was standing outside of the home and was blown back by the explosion. He died from his injuries the next day. There is no evidence that the explosion was premeditated but the people responsible could face 2nd-degree murder charges. The stove was never recovered.
