Irene Dale Blackard was 83-years-old when she was found murdered in her apartment at Whitaker’s Apartments located at 830 NW 6th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 10th, 1982.

Irene was dragged from her bed around 330 am, then raped and beaten by two men. The men were Latinx or Native. Suspect #1 was 19-20, 5’7-5’8, 140-150 lbs and suspect #2 was 23-24, 6’2, slender with black hair combed back.

Irene was a music teacher and musician through out her life. She attended the Hardin College Conservatory of Music and the Southwestern Studios of Musical Art. She taught piano and participated in many community events musically in Muldrow, Oklahoma. She was born February 24th, 1899. She is Cherokee Nation though no articles mention so.
