Mother of four children, Ida Joanne Beard, has been missing from El Reno, Oklahoma since June 30th, 2015. She was 29 at the time.

Ida was walking home from a friend’s home in El Reno when she vanished. She told her mother she was going to visit friends down the road. Ida never returned home. It took two weeks for the police to accept a missing persons report, and they only interviewed Ida’s mom and a friend years later.

Ida is Cheyenne and Arapahoe with brown hair and eyes. She always wore her hair in a french braid. She is 5’6 and 120 lbs. Ida loved to volunteer and help other people and she often taught Sunday School. She lived with her mother, who is blind, at the time.

Ida’s Law was created and signed into law by Governor Stitt in April of 2021. This law is intended to create a local Office of Liason for missing and murdered Indigenous peoples. Studies show that Native women and girls are TEN TIMES more likely to disappear when compared to similar peer groups.

Ida is listed as # MP30338 in NaMus and there are currently 11 exclusions for her. Please call the BIA Missing and Murdered Unit at 833-560-2065 with any information in the disappearance of Native mother Ida Beard.
