Doyle Duane Watson was found murdered in Cotton County, Oklahoma on July 21st, 1982. The Army veteran was 47 years old.

Doyle, a rural mail carrier, was found shot to death in the bed of his truck in rural Cotton County about a mile north of the Texas/Oklahoma border at 7 am by a local resident. They had noticed the truck late the night before parked on the road which parallels US Hwy 277. Doyle had last been seen by his family the night of July 19th. It was determined that Doyle had been shot once in the head.

Doyle Watson was born in Barnsdale, Oklahoma on December 26th, 1934. He attended and graduated from Barnsdale Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from July 7th, 1960 to July 2nd, 1966. Doyle Watson was married at the time of his murder.
