Cynthia Garcia was last seen June 1st, 2016 leaving her job at the FAA in sw Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at 4:45pm (there are other reports that she was seen the next day leaving her home around 2pm). On February 1st, 2018, Cynthia’s remains were discovered by an oilfield worker in an oil field in McClain County, west of Wayne, Oklahoma.
Cynthia’s vehicle was found in her garage at her home in Moore, Oklahoma and her purse was inside her home. Her boss received a text from Cynthia stating she would not be at work the next day. Another text was sent to her daughter’s father stating she did not feel well and would pick up Sophia on Saturday. Cynthia never showed to pick up her daughter. This was highly unlike her as she was described as a devoted mother to her daughter. She was also described as a responsible employee and it was unlike her to miss work. Her cell phone was turned off and never turned back on that day. At the time she was in the process of a divorce from her current husband.
Cynthia’s skeletal remains were discovered by an oilfield employee around 8:15pm in a wooded area, about 100 yards from the drill. This was located just off I-35 and S.H. 59. Her clothing and jewelry were found near the remains, along with bedding. Her remains had been there for 1-2 years when found. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Cynthia was a successful Latina woman and was the Director and education board member for the National Hispanic Coalition of Federal Employees. She was born in August of 1986.
