Angie Denise Tucker was last seen in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 11:30 p.m. on November 3, 2007. At the time she and her two children were living with her mother on Apache Street and Yale Avenue. That evening, Angie informed her mother that she was stepping out to go to buy cigarettes. Angie never returned from that trip to the store and has remained out of contact since then. She was just 31.
Almost a month before her disappearance, Angie had accused her former boyfriend, Allen Shields, of rape. She reported that on the morning of October 6, she woke to find Shields forcibly entering her apartment. He sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. Authorities arrested Shields for burglary and rape. After this incident, Angie obtained a restraining order against him. However, Shields posted bond and was released on the same day, claiming that the sexual encounter was consensual.
Angie vanished just before she was scheduled to testify against Shields in court. The court dismissed the case against Shields due to a lack of evidence. Although Shields was a person of interest in Angie’s disappearance, he consistently claimed innocence and said he had no knowledge of her whereabouts.
In February 2010, Shields faced five felony charges, including kidnapping, assault, and burglary, unrelated to Angie’s case. Authorities discovered him in his ex-girlfriend’s home, armed with a “kidnap/murder kit” that included a handgun, handcuffs, drugs, a mask, pepper spray, and disinfectant wipes. Shields laid in wait for as long as thirteen hours, ultimately assaulting the woman when she returned home. Thanks to the prompt response of the police following a call from her daughter, they were able to apprehend Sheilds before he was able to do anything.
Authorities later suspected Shields of conspiring to murder Neal Sweeney, a local businessman who died in September 2008. Shields, along with four other individuals, including his brother—who had a prior conviction for another homicide—faced serious charges in connection with Sweeney’s death. Authorities believed Sweeney’s death was the result of a murder-for-hire plot. In exchange for his testimony against the other defendants, Shields entered a guilty plea for conspiracy in October 2010, receiving ten years of probation and release from prison. January 2011, police collected a DNA sample from him to compare to a sample in the murder of Frederick Anthony Wilson, who had been killed in a home invasion robbery in April 2008.
In April 2011, Shields took his own life after a standoff with the police in the same residence he had entered the previous February. He missed his court appearance on the day of his death. Authorities learned that he was holding a child hostage, who turned out to be his ex-girlfriend’s daughter—the same child who had previously alerted the police during his earlier assault. Following a stand-off, he released the child and then took his own life.
Angie, a dedicated parent and dependable employee, vanished suddenly—a behavior that was uncharacteristic of her, especially since she did not own a vehicle at the time. She worked at the Oklahoma State University Medical Center when she disappeared. At the time of her disappearance, Angie was wearing a black shirt, blue denim capri pants, a black jacket with the Oklahoma State University Medical Center logo, and black shoes. Angie has a gold tooth and walks with a slight limp. She had dyed her hair burgundy at the time of her disappearance.
Authorities suspect foul play in her disappearance, and her case remains unsolved. Angie’s family are still searching for answers 16 years later.
