Theophilus Kermit Fleming Sr. was murdered in Tulsa on August 13, 1989. He was seventy-nine years old.

Theophilus lived alone in his Tulsa apartment located on North Hartford Ave. He was found dead inside his home by his younger son Theophilus Jr. at about 9:30am when Theophilus Jr. arrived to pick up his father to go visit his younger son who at the time was incarcerated.

Theophilus had been strangled and beaten in the head. His front door had been kicked open, and the police believed that his murder was robbery motivated as several items from the home were missing. No one has ever been charged in Theophilus’ murder, and leads into the crime appear to be very few.

The Fleming family has seen almost nothing but tragedy in the intervening years. Theophilus’ grandson was shot and killed in a police shooting after allegedly robbing a Tulsa bank in 2001. In 2009 Theophilus’ great-grandson would be tried and convicted at eighteen for murdering another teenager.

It’s time for the Fleming family to have something good happen. If you know anything about the murder of seventy-nine year old Theophilus Kermit Fleming Sr. please contact the Tulsa Police Department at 918-522-9222.
