Sarah Ida Cox, 20, was last seen alive on April 6, 2001, in Oklahoma City when she left her job at the 7-Eleven on SW 119th and May Avenue. Authorities later found her vehicle abandoned and parked across the street from the same 7-Eleven.
Five days later, on April 11, authorities discovered Sarah’s body in a creek bed in Tuttle. Although she remained fully clothed, someone had disarranged her clothing. The medical examiner later determined that suffocation caused her death.
Authorities interviewed Sarah’s husband after he made unusual comments to a family member about the location of Sarah’s body. They released him without charges after he led them to a site where they only found a stolen car unrelated to Sarah’s disappearance or murder. The district attorney presented evidence to a grand jury, but no indictments were issued, and no persons of interest have been publicly named.
Sarah’s murder has remained unsolved for 23 years .If you have any information regarding the kidnapping and murder of Sarah Cox, please contact the OSBI at 800-522-8017. You can also submit a tip anonymously to your local law enforcement agency.
