Oklahoma Cold Cases Official Statement: Dennis Rader (“BTK”) and Oklahoma Cases

We want to address a recurring question that appears frequently on our page — whether Dennis Rader, known as the “BTK Killer,” could be responsible for certain unsolved murders of women in Oklahoma.

While we understand why this question arises — given Rader’s notoriety and the similarities between some of his known crimes and unsolved cases here — there is no verified evidence at this time that Dennis Rader ever committed a homicide in the state of Oklahoma. His confirmed crimes were confined to the Wichita, Kansas area between 1974 and 1991.

Rader himself has spoken at length with investigators and journalists about his crimes, often in great detail. Throughout those interviews and confessions, he has never claimed responsibility for any Oklahoma murders, nor has law enforcement provided credible evidence linking him to any such cases.

Oklahoma Cold Cases is dedicated to factual, evidence-based research. We recognize that unverified claims and assumptions can spread easily, but it can also unintentionally overshadow the victims themselves and the ongoing investigative work being done on their behalf. For that reason, we ask that followers refrain from asserting unverified connections between Dennis Rader and Oklahoma homicides unless credible evidence comes to light.

If any verified information or law enforcement statements emerge in the future suggesting otherwise, we will be among the first to share it. Until then, our focus remains on honoring the victims, amplifying awareness, and working toward justice through facts — not unsubstantiated theories

If you wish to discuss Dennis Rader, BTK, please do so in the comment section on this post. Unless verified information comes to light, we will no longer be allowing the discussion of the possibility of BTK being the killer of any of Oklahoma’s individual cold cases that we post. All conversations regarding Dennis Rader, BTK, will ONLY be allowed here.

Thank you for your understanding.
