Sandra Kay Pannell was just 49-years-old when she was found murdered in Oklahoma City on August 20, 2005. She was serving a work release sentence at the Kate Barnard Community Corrections Center due to convictions for DUI in 2002 and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in 2004.

On the morning of her murder, she left the correction center at 4:30 am to walk to her job at Coit’s Root Beer Drive-In, located at 5001 N. Portland. Approximately two hours later, a man walking to work discovered her body in the parking lot of Taylor Made Signs at 3401 NW 36. She had been stabbed multiple times in the neck.
