Forty-one year old Julie Dawn Mason and her son, seven year old Keagon Bruce were murdered in Oklahoma City on December 17, 2016.

Firefighters responded to Julie and Keagon’s Oklahoma City home at about 5am on December 17. Someone had called 911 because the home, located on Northwest 80th, was on fire with visible flames coming from the front and back of the home. Inside, they found both Julie and Keagon in a downstairs bedroom. Julie was pronounced dead on scene, however Keagon was still alive when he was pulled out of the house. He was transported to the hospital where he later died the same day.

Detectives already believed that both Julie and Keagon had been severely injured before the fire had been intentionally set, but in March 2017, the medical examiner would confirm this belief. Julie had been stabbed over thirty times across her torso and even her skull. She had been brutally beaten, her jaw broken. Gasoline had apparently been poured over her body. Keagon had been stabbed repeatedly in the skull and had been beaten. Police suspect Julie might have been sexually assaulted.

A man that had been a suspect in the rape of an elderly woman who lived down the road from Julie and Keagon also became a suspect in the murders of Julie and Keagon, however to date no one has been charged in their murders.
