Twenty-three-year-old Greta Rines went missing from the Tulsa area sometime around 1991, however she was not reported missing by anyone until family members did so in 2012. They cited issues with Greta’s lifestyle as being why it took so long to report her as missing.

Though her probation officers were looking for her as recently as 2016, associates of Greta’s had long since been stating that it had been about twenty years since anyone had seen or heard from her, and everyone that knew her just had assumed Greta was dead.

Unfortunately, in 2017, this would be officially found to be the case. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office announced that remains found near Mohawk Park in December 1992 were identified as being that of Greta Rines. At the time the remains had been found, the office did not have any missing person’s cases that fit the description of the remains. They did determine that her remains had been there for about a year after death, though no cause of death was ever able to be determined.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance and death of Greta Rines, or if you knew her in the late 1980s to early 1990s, please contact the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office 918-596-5600.
