Craig Andrew Copperthite was found murdered in Bromide, Oklahoma on December 20th, 1978. He was 19-years-old.

Craig wasn’t from Oklahoma, he had been missing from Arlington, Virginia since November 1978. Family said that Craig was a drifter and they didn’t know how he made it to Oklahoma but it’s generally believed he was hitchhiking at the time. Craig’s body was found on the side of the road. He’d been severely beaten and cause of death was due to asphyxiation. He’d been tied up and that is what caused his death.

Craig was born in Arlington, Virginia on November 27th, 1959. He had previously joined the Navy for a short time. His body was identified through fingerprints which were on file from a recent cannabis charge.
