Annastasia Gail Runningwolf was twenty-five years old when authorities found her body in Oklahoma City on November 8th, 2005.
She last communicated in October 2005, so the exact time of her death remains unknown. However, authorities likely discovered her body shortly thereafter near the 1600 block of South Miller. Authorities identified her through fingerprints despite finding her body considerably decomposed. Depending on the account, Annastasia’s body was found either in a storm drain or a ravine. Research suggests she was located near Twin Creek.
When they found her, she was naked, with a blanket knotted around her body and an inside-out black sweater covering her head. Wire bound her into a fetal position, and she died from blunt force trauma.
At the time of her death, Annastasia was struggling heavily with drug addiction. Something she had been battling the majority of her life. To support her addiction, she often worked the streets. However, she always stayed in touch with her grandparents and sisters, who cared for her young children. It was unlike Annastasia to be out of contact for long, as she considered keeping in touch with her kids non-optional. Where she was staying is unknown at the time that she dropped out of contact. Annastasia’s murder has deeply impacted her entire family, particularly her children, who have struggled significantly. As has her sisters, whom she had reconnected with not long before her murder.
I strongly suspect that Annastasia’s murder is connected to the killings of the Lawton women from the late 90s to early 2000s. I have several reasons for this suspicion. One reason is that a contact of mine who danced in Lawton during the early 90s. She was adamant that she recognized Annastasia’s picture. Whether it was Annastasia or someone who just looked like her is unknown.
